Although most of the tasks will be pretty straightforward and can be completed without too much extra effort, especially given the extra ten Raid Passes that are included in the entry fee, there is one particular requirement that will prove tricky. The task in question involves catching a specific set of Pokemon GO Legendary Pokemon who aren’t always going to be readily available in the mobile game.

So, as long as the Colossal Discovery Special Research is purchased and unlocked this coming weekend, then players have as long as they need to complete it. That said, the tasks gets exponentially more challenging after November 4 because of the coming raid boss rotation. Apparently the Special Research storyline is going to require players to catch Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. That trio leaves the current Raid Rotation November 4 at 1pm. That means players should take a break from catching the best Unova region Pokemon and concentrate on completing these raids while their available.
This has led to some speculation that the trio will return as the November and December Special Research Breakthrough rewards, but that doesn’t been confirmed yet. Niantic is currently recommending that players try their hardest to complete the Colossal Discovery storyline by November 4, so there may not be any other easy opportunities to encounter that trio in the near future.
