Pokemon GO: Lunar New Year 2023 Field Research Tasks and Rewards

While these tasks may seem a bit random upon first glance, they actually do synergize quite nicely with some of the bonuses that are active as part of the Lunar New Year 2023 event. For example, there are bonuses that focus around trading Pokemon, one of which increases the chances of PoGO’s Lucky Pokemon appearing in trades. This gives players some additional incentive to pursue the “trade a Pokemon” task, which is perhaps the most difficult one to complete.

There is also a bonus that makes opening Gifts in Pokemon GO more rewarding. Specifically, players will earn double Stardust from opening Gifts during the Lunar New Year event, making the gift-focused tasks more appealing than they are when such a bonus is not in effect.

To note, before players start pursuing the Field Research tasks that center around Gifts, they may want to confirm that they have reached Step 2 in PoGO’s Lucky Wishes Timed Research. For the uninitiated, Lucky Wishes is a batch of Timed Research that is exclusive to the Lunar New Year event, and indeed the second step features a task that instructs fans to send 25 Gifts. While it is certainly not requisite that players work on that Timed Research task alongside the related Field Research tasks, fans that value efficiency may want to do so.

One final thing to mention is that all the Pokemon that can be encountered by completing these Field Research tasks have a chance to be Shiny. There is also an increased chance of encountering a Shiny Galarian Darumaka for the duration of Pokemon GO’s Lunar New Year event, which may encourage players to hold onto the “catch 25 Pokemon” task.

Pokemon GO is available on Android and iOS devices.
