Regice has 41777 Raid Boss CP and a max capture CP of 1764 (with no weather boost, 100% IV, at level 20) and 2205 (with a snowy weather boost, 100% IV, and level 25). Prepared Pokemon GO players can probably defeat this titan with around 4 players, though 6 is a safer bet, and of course, the more the better.

The Ice-type legendary also knows the following moves:

Rock Smash (quick Fighting-type move) Frost Breath (quick Ice-type move) Focus Blast (charged, 1 bar Fighting-type move) Blizzard (charged, 1 bar Ice-type move) Earthquake (charged, 1 bar Ground-type move)

Blizzard and Frost Breath is the easiest move set to counter with any fire-type. Focus Blast is most dangerous against a Tyranitar, ao avoid using those Smack Down Tyranitars if it’s in Regice’s move set. Earthquake is one of its more dangerous moves, as its likely to knock out most fire types, with a Rock Smash/ Earthquake moveset being incredibly powerful against most of the legendary’s counters.

Players should also use the weather system to their advantage, as a snowy-weathered Regice will be harder to take down. However, in the same token, cloudy weather will boost Fighting-type counters, and sunny weather will boost Fire-types.

The best Pokemon (and move set) to use against Regice are as follows:

Entei (Fire Spin/Overheat) Moltres (Fire Spin/Overheat) Charizard (Fire Spin/Blast Burn) Flareon (Fire Spin/Overheat) Ho-Oh (Steel Wing/Fire Blast) Machamp (Counter/Dynamic Punch) Tyranitar (Smack Down/Stone Edge) Blaziken (Counter/Overheat) Breloom (Counter/Dynamic Punch)

From the aforementioned, Entei and Moltres are the best to use against Regice, but swap Moltres in for Entei against an Earthquake Regice. Blast Burn Charizard and Flareon are good substitutes for the players who don’t have the above legendary counters, with Smack Down Tyranitar being a good choice against Regice unless the legendary has Focus Blast. The remaining Pokemon - Machamp, Blaziken, and Breloom - are good for third-team backup.

With this guide, players should hopefully be able to easily take down this latest legendary. Regice is a good defensive Ice-type, but with the right move set, weather, and preparation, even a novice should be able to take down this legendary. Good luck out there, trainers!

Fresh off the back of the announcement that Pokemon GO has grossed more than $3 billion since launch, the new event focuses on the Regis group of Pokemon, also known as the Legendary Titans or the Legendary Golems, as well as their Master Regigigas. The trio consists of ice-type Regice, rock-type Regirock, and steel-type Registeel, all three of which share a similar appearance and a weakness to Fighting. Of the three, Regice is certainly the most challenging, but will need to be defeated in order to complete the event. Here’s our guide to the best way to take him down.

It’s Super-Effective!

As an ice-type legendary Pokemon, Regice is weak to Fire, Rock, Steel and Fighting, which theoretically gives players a wide range of counters that they can call on to defeat it. Things are never quite that simple however, as players participating in Pokemon GO’s first paid Event also need to take Regice’s own attacks into consideration, which are a mix of Ice, Fighting and Rock.

As such, the ideal counters for Regice are mostly high-tier fire-types such as Moltres, Charizard and Chandelure, focusing on their Fire Spin and Overheat moves to quickly melt through Regice’s defenses. However, just like in the fight against its rock-type brother Regirock, steel-type Metagross and fighting-type Machamp are also good picks, as attacks such as Meteor Mash and Dynamic Punch will be super-effective against Regice, and each of the Pokemon have the bulk to last through its counters.

Other Factors

Preparing for the opponent’s most dangerous moves is a reliable path to victory in Pokemon GO, and the fight with Regice is no exception. Players hoping to complete their Research Tasks by taking on Regice should be especially wary of Earthquake for its massive damage and Rock Smash for its speed and power.

Another consideration when taking on Regice is Pokemon GO’s Weather System, with the Legendary Boss being boosted to a higher level in snowy conditions. Players planning on using fire should wait for a sunny day, and the fire-damage bonus that comes with it, which may make the crucial difference between victory and defeat.
