While the Abra Community Day event is active in Pokemon GO, it may be a little more difficult than usual to catch Illumise and Volbeat out in the wild. However, there are other ways that players can get Illumise and Volbeat encounters to ensure that they snag the region-exclusive Pokemon while the Buddy Up event is still live.

As is the case with most other Pokemon GO limited-time events, the Buddy Up event features special Field Research tasks that players can complete for rewards. It just so happens that there are a couple of Pokemon GO Buddy Up Field Research tasks that are specific to Illumise and Volbeat, meaning players can complete them to guarantee adding them to their collection. To get these Buddy Up Field Research tasks, Pokemon GO players will want to spin as many PokeStops as possible.

Here are the specific Pokemon GO Buddy Up Field Research tasks that players should be looking for to catch Illumise and Volbeat:

Pokemon GO Buddy Up Illumise and Volbeat Field Research Tasks

Take a snapshot of your buddy (Volbeat)

Play with your buddy (Illumise)

While these tasks should be pretty self-explanatory to dedicated Pokemon GO players that have stuck with the game long-term, lapsed players may not necessarily know what these tasks are asking for. To take a snapshot of their buddy, Pokemon GO players need to click on their buddy Pokemon’s icon on the bottom left-hand corner of the game screen. This should go to the buddy Pokemon screen, which has an icon to snap a photo. Playing with a buddy Pokemon is similar, but players should click the “Play!” button instead of the snapshot button.

Of course, once the Abra Community Day event ends, Pokemon GO players should also be able to find plenty of Illumise and Volbeat out in the wild. But regardless of how they’re caught, fans of the game should definitely make it a point to catch whichever one that doesn’t usually appear in their region.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
