Garchomp is known in both the mainline Pokemon games and in Pokemon GO as being a pseudo-legendary Pokemon. This is due to its powerful stats that can make it an absolute monster in battle. This also makes it very popular among battle-hungry players.

Looking closely at Garchomp, it is a dual Dragon and Ground-type Pokemon, making it weak to Ice, Fairy, and Dragon-type moves. It also resists damage from Rock, Poison, Fire, and Electric-type moves, giving it a helpful defensive edge.

Best Garchomp Movesets in Pokemon GO

There are two quick moves that Garchomp can learn for battle, with them being Mud Shot and Dragon Tail. Unlike most Pokemon and their fast moves, both of these moves have their own advantages. Mud Shot as a quick move deals less damage overall than Dragon Tail, but it also provides more energy toward charge moves over time. Dragon Tail, meanwhile, has much better damage per second but still provides less energy.

While it may depend on the moveset, the newest meta for Garchomp’s best-performing moves has Mud Shot as the quick move of choice. With it, players will take full advantage of some pretty powerful charge moves without needing to spend as much time building up energy.

For Garchomp’s charge moves, there are way more options for players to dig through. All of them as of the June 2021 Community Day are:

Earthquake - Ground-type move

Earth Power - Ground-type move

Fire Blast - Fire-type move

Sand Tomb - Ground-type move

Outrage - Dragon-type move

Frustration - Normal-type move

Return - Normal-type move

If players want their Garchomp to perform as well as possible, players will first need to unlock Garchomp’s second charged move slot. This will cost players both Gible candy and Stardust, but it will be worth it as it will allow players to have multiple options for charge moves in battle.

Although there are many options, the best performing moveset has Garchomp’s two charge moves being Outrage and the newly available Earth Power. Those wanting Earth Power, however, can only get it via two different methods. The first method is by using an Elite Charged TM on Garchomp, which will allow players to directly choose which exact charge move they want for a slot. The second method is to evolve a Gabite into a Garchomp during the active hours of the June 2021 Community Day in players’ local times.
