One of the most interesting Pokemon in Pokemon GO is Trevenant, which is the evolved form of Phantump. Phantump and Trevenant are two of only six Grass/Ghost-type Pokemon in the franchise, giving them a rather unique range of resistances and weaknesses. Trevenant also gets some interesting move combinations, which can make it a deadly battler on the field.

Trevenant’s Best Movesets

Trevenant has access to two Quick and three Charge moves in Pokemon GO, for a total of six combinations. Trevenant’s Charge moves are divided between Dark, Grass, and Ghost, while its Quick moves are Ghost and Dark.

When it comes to particular moves, Trevenant’s most powerful set in most weather conditions is the combination of Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball. As both of these moves are Ghost-Type, they’ll particularly shine against any Pokemon that is weak to Ghost moves, but perform poorly against any that resists them.

Trevenant’s Best Movesets When Grass Is Boosted

In Sunny and Clear conditions, the boost to Grass-types will unseat the Shadow Claw/Ball combo as Trevenant’s most powerful moveset. For these specific weather types, it’s the combination of Shadow Claw and Seed Bomb that boasts the highest DPS. As both of these moves match with Trevenant’s type, they gain a 20% damage bonus. In addition, having two types of damage will enable Trevenant to tackle a larger range of targets..

In addition to being superior in Sunny and Clear conditions, the Shadow Claw/Seed Bomb moveset is also the best for Gym defense. Pokemon that have been placed to defend Pokemon GO Gyms use their moves differently, meaning that Seed Bomb’s faster cooldown gives it the edge over Shadow Ball even when the sun isn’t shining.

Pokemon GO is available now on mobile devices.
