Starting on Thursday players are going to be trading in the current Legendary Battle Raid boss for another shot at taking on Mewtwo equipped with Charged Attack Shadow Ball. In addition to that exciting opportunity, raiding fans will also find one of the original Pokemon GO Mega challengers returning with another Mega Venusaur rotation for the coming week.

Mega Venusaur will be in rotation from Thursday, June 16, 2022, to Thursday, June 23, 2022. During that time, trainers may want to revisit their old counter rosters and make a handful of updates. It’s been a while since Mega Venusaur debuted and a lot of new options are available that open up some new strategies.

While forming a counter roster, players should keep in mind that Mega Venusaur is a pure Grass-type so the best counters are going to be Fire- and Psychic-type Pokemon. That leaves battle raid fans with a lot of powerful options at the Legendary level if they have been raiding regularly in the game over the last few years…

Best Mega Venusaur Counters (June 2022)

Mewtwo - Psycho Cut/Psychic Reshiram -Fire Fang/Overheat Hoopa (Unbound) - Confusion/Psychic Moltres -Fire Spin/Sky Attack Darmanitan - Fire Fang/Overheat Darmanitan (Standard) - Fire Fang/Overheat Latios - Zen Headbutt/Psychic Ho-Oh - Incinerate/Brave Bird Alakazam - Confusion/Psychic Exeggutor - Confusion/Psychic Entei - Fire Fang/Overheat

As with any Mega Raid, trainers will not actually be rewarded with a Mega Venusaur encounter upon success. Instead, players will earn a regular Venusaur encounter and the nice stack of Mega Candy that can be used to temporarily Mega Evolve a Venusaur at a later point in time. Mega Pokemon are very powerful tools to have access to, so players with the extra Battle Raid passes to spare should take advantage of the opportunity. Keep in mind that although top tier players may be able to successfully duo Mega Venusaur, the average player should plan to head into this fight with a team of at least four or five allies to ensure they don’t burn any Raid Passes on failed attempts.

Be sure to check back in the near future for plenty more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
