It can be tricky to compare Pokemon for PVP battles as there are a lot of stats to factor in. One of the quickest ways to see if a Pokemon is strong is by checking out its combat points. However, it is also important to check a Pokemon’s attacks before adding it to a party for battles. This can be seen by looking at the damage points and cooling time of the attacks. Taking all of this into account, some Eeveelutions that might not have the highest CP could actually be more useful for PVP battles in Pokemon Go.

This first Eeveelution is the weakest out of the bunch. Jolteon is the Electric-type Eeveelution making it effective against Water and Flying types. It only has a max CP of 2888 and a max HP of 140, making it a somewhat weak Pokemon. Nonetheless, Jolteon has very strong options for its Main Move. Thunder has an extremely strong DPS of 50, Thunderbolt reaches 38.4, and Discharge 31.2, although this last is a defense move.
Flareon is a Fire-type Eeveelution, it is particularly vulnerable to Water, Rock, and Ground types. Flareon has very low maximum Combat Points so it can be easily defeated. Even at its 40th level, Flareon only reaches 3029 CP. However, its moveset has some great stats making Flareon a better adversary at PVP than Jolteon. For its Main Move, there are some strong options such as Overheat with a 48 DPS, Flamethrower with 38.2, and Fire Blast with 40. Even though Flareon is not the strongest Eeveelution, being a Fire-type it benefits from Fire-type boosts in sunny weather which could make it a good option for many players.
Vaporeon is the Water-type Eeveelution. Being a Water-type Pokemon, it is especially weak when facing Grass or Electric types. Its maximum CP is 3114 which is only slightly above Flareon. Its best moves for PVP battles are Water Gun, its quick move, and Hydro Pump. Both of these moves are also the best for Gym battles. Although Vaporeon is not the strongest Eeveelution on its 40th level, it is still one of the most reliable. It is often used as a Tank because of its max HP of 230. Even though this Pokemon is not the strongest of the Eeveelutions, some players might prefer to evolve Eevee into Vaporeon for its balanced stats.
One of the most interesting Eeveelutions is Espeon as it requires walking 10km with Eevee as your buddy and evolve it during the day to be obtained. Espeon is a Psychic-type Pokemon so it is at its weakest when facing Bug, Dark, and Ghost types. Its maximum CP is 3170 making it rank only slightly above Vaporeon. However, Espeon’s Psychic attack has 36.6 DPS and -17.9 EPS which could be considered its redeeming quality. Many players prefer to evolve Eevee into Umbreon as Espeon does not have such good stats when compared to other Psychic-type Pokemons and, therefore, not the best option for PVP battles.

Umbreon is Espeon’s Dark-type counterpart and it requires a similar mechanism to be obtained only that Eevee needs to be evolved during the night. However, it is its only similarity with the Fairy-type Pokemon as its stats are a bit different from Espeon’s. Umbreon has a considerably lower max CP of 2137 but it has a higher maximum HPs at 182. Umbreon’s strongest main move is Foul Play with a DPS of 42 and an EPS of -25. Its HP, together with its competitive moveset makes it more suitable for PVP battles.
Reaching the top three is Leafeon, the Grass-type Eeveelution. Because of its type, this Pokemon is vulnerable against Flying, Fire, Poison, Bug, and Ice types which makes it a hard Eeveelution for players to use on PVP battles. Leafeon can be obtained by evolving Eevee next to a moss lure Only considering its max CP, it does not have the best stats when it comes to max HP, reaching 2994. Nevertheless, it redeems itself much like Umbreon by having an amazing moveset that makes it an extremely tough contender in PVP battles. Its Solar Beam attack reaches 44.1 damage points with an EPS of -20.4.
Glaceon used to be the best Eeveelution for PVP as it has a max CP of 3126, making it a withstanding adversary for battle. The Ice-type Eeveelution can be obtained by evolving Eevee near an ice lure. Glaceon’s strongest attack is Avalanche with 40 DPS and -18.5 EPS making it one of the strongest attacks for all the Eeveelutions. Its second strongest attack is Ice Beam with 32.7 DPS and -15.2 EPS. Even though Sylveon, the newest addition to the Eeveelution family, is now considered to be the best option for PVP battles, some might still prefer to use Glaceon as it is also somewhat easier to acquire.
The Fairy-type Pokemon is the latest addition to the Eeveelution family as it was added to Pokemon Go on May 25th. Sylveon is the most complicated Eeveelution to obtain as it requires 70 buddy hearts in order to get the option to evolve Eevee into Sylveon. However, for some players, it might be worth the wait as this Pokemon has a max CP of 3069 with a very tough moveset. Even though Glaceon has a little under a hundred more CPs, Sylveon moveset is a little better in terms of stats. Sylveon’s strongest attack is Moonblast with 40 DPS and -25.6 EPS followed by Dazzling Gleam with 34.3 DPS and -14.3 EPS. These two stats make it a really good option for PVP battles.
Pokemon GO is available now for mobile devices.
