The end of last week brought the final Legendary rotation and Dialga entered the tier 5 Battle Raids. This time around the powerful boss is going to be available until Sunday, July 31; so trainers have all week to battle and hopefully earn some shiny encounters with the popular Legendary. As always, Pokemon GO trainers should take some time to prepare for the big battle before heading out and burning any Raid Passes.

For those who need a refresher, Dialga is a powerful Steel-/Dragon-type. That means that players are going to want to pull together a counter roster full of the best Fighting- and Ground-types available. Those usual suspects have been relevant for previous raid bosses many times, so some trainers will already have a strong lineup ready for the big fight. If not, the following list is a great place to start…
Best Dialga Counters (July 2022)
Lucario - Counter/Aura Sphere Conkeldurr - Counter/Dynamic Punch Groudon - Mud Shot/Earthquake Landorus (Therian) - Mud Shot/Earthquake Excadrill - Mud-Slap/Earthquake Landorus - Mud Shot/Earth Power Meloetta (Pirouette) - Low Kick/Close Combat Blaziken - Counter/Focus Blast Landorus (Incarnate) - Mud Shot/Earth Power Rhyperior - Mud-Slap/Earthquake Ground
Heading into the battle without the above counters can still be successful, but trainers need to do so with a strong group of players. For this battle, it’s recommends that groups don’t get any smaller than five well-prepared trainers. Players will likely also want to burn through some resources to get their roster in shape. That means spending some Stardust, Elite TMs, and Candy to lock in the right move sets and ideal CPs before wasting any Raid Passes on failed attempts.
At this point, players will likely learn more about August events any day now, so keep an eye out for those details later this week. Be sure to check back for more Pokemon GO guides, updates, and news in the coming days. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
