As part of the Throwback Challenge 2020: Johto event, Niantic has added nine Johto region Pokemon to 7km eggs. For any Pokemon GO players that may be out of practice, 7km eggs special yellow eggs that players can only get by opening gifts from friends. They take up an egg slot like regular eggs do, and as their name implies, typically take 7km of walking distance to hatch. However, players will find that eggs are hatching a little quicker than usual thanks to the changes Niantic has made to Pokemon GO for the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, so it shouldn’t take quite that long to hatch them.

The Pokemon GO Throwback Challenge 2020: Johto event marks the best chance players have had in quite some time to fully complete their Johto region Pokedex. So anyone that needs the Pokemon hatching out of 7km eggs will want to make it a point to do as much walking as possible and hatch as many eggs as they can while the event is live.

Next week, Pokemon GO players can expect the 7km egg pool to change yet again. On Friday, May 15 at 1:00pm local time, the 7km eggs in Pokemon GO will drop the Johto region Pokemon in favor of Hoenn region Pokemon. Niantic has already revealed the Hoenn region Pokemon that will be hatching out of 7km eggs next week, and they include Clamperl, Feebas, Lotad, Mawile, Nincada, Sableye, Skitty, and Slakoth. Clamperl and Nincada are especially rare compared to the other Pokemon in the lineup, so next week will mark a great opportunity for Pokemon GO fans to better complete their Pokedex.

The rest of the Pokemon GO Throwback Challenge 2020 events will include a week celebrating the Sinnoh region, and will culminate in a week that highlights Unova region Pokemon. That week will also see the debut of the first Galarian Pokemon in Pokemon GO, so it should be hugely exciting for fans of the popular augmented reality mobile game.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
