Considering how much trying to get a hold of only one Charizard card can be, painting one might be the easier option, even when considering the skill required to get the piece looking well enough to share. Reddit user Meginigann showed just that level of skill in the piece the artist shared on the Pokemon subreddit that depicts every detail of the card, and not just the artwork, over several feet of canvas.

The painting itself is of the entire Charizard card, complete with the card’s stats and attacks drawn into the borders the way they are for the original trading card game. Fans have quickly flocked to the original Reddit post to ask if Meginigann will be selling it in the future, which it from the poster’s response doesn’t seem to be the case at the time of this writing. Others simply wanted to express how good this painted version of Charizard looks, especially when compared to the original Pokemon card the piece is based on.
Although it might be difficult to tell from the original photos, the card is also holographic thanks to sparkles mixed with varnish on the outer layer of the painting. Considering that the pictures in the original post are still photos taken from enough of a distance to fit the whole thing in frame, it makes sense that the little details like that might not be readily apparent. Either way, it’s a great depiction of this incredibly rare Pokemon card that has become such an icon of the trading card collectors world and a symbol for the series’ longevity.
Fan works like this Charizard painting sit in an interesting area for the community as a whole, sharing a type of reverence for something as simple as a Pokemon trading card game. It’s always nice to see how fans might try to interact with the works in their own way, either while playing any of titles like Pokemon Legends: Arceus or through a different creative medium like painting. The fact that so many fans are still interested, not only in Pokemon as a whole, but this one Charizard card goes to show exactly how much of an impact the series has made over the years.
