With the recent reveal of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, inspiration likely hit the creative minds within the Pokemon community. Many fan theories and amazing fan art have been popping up online, especially since The Pokemon Company only revealed the new starters for the 9th generation. However, despite all this buzz about the upcoming title, there are still many in the community who look back at the previous Pokemon generations and take inspiration from the older pocket creatures in the series.

On Reddit, user HerenJames shared a single image of the cross-stitch art piece their mom has worked on for the past eight years. The incredible cloth art stands at five feet tall and holds images of all the series’ Pokemon up to the 5th generation. This means that HerenJames’ mother cross-stitched 649 Pokemon on a single canvas, from the Pokemon starters of the Kanto Region and all the way to the legendaries of Unova. Fans who take a look at the cross-stitch piece will likely spot a lot of their favorite pocket creatures from five whole different generations of Pokemon.
The Reddit thread that HerenJames posted on seems to have exploded with compliments from fellow Pokemon fans. According to the Redditor, the pattern came from Lord Libidan, an internationally acclaimed cross-stitch designer. One commenter found it amazing that HerenJames’ mother was able to fully complete the pattern, given the sheer number of Pokemon and the amount of details incorporated in the design. Replying to every single comment, HerenJames shared that their mother did not care much about the specifics of the design and just wanted something “colorful” to create. When asked what their mom thought the best Pokemon was, HerenJames said she found popular Fairy-type Pokemon Clefairy to be “the best.”
Though this is likely not the first cloth fan art piece made by the Pokemon community, this seems like one of the best that can be found online. Hopefully the Redditor’s mother will continue to make more Pokemon cross-stitch pieces, especially now that there are nine generations of Pokemon.
