Using Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Spain-inspired region (and thus lore), rationale based on the typical typing triangle of Pokemon starters, and one very important detail in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trailer, Agoveb is able to deduce and breakdown a potential direction for each of the new Starters.

Fuecoco and the Cucafera

Fuecoco is a croc, which is a huge break in tradition for Pokemon’s fire-starter Zodiac Theory. Some believe he will evolve into a snake, which is possible and acknowledged by Agoveb. However, Agoveb believes Fuecoco’s final form will be based on a Cucafera, as seen above. This is typically a crocodile wearing armor made from a coconut, and in such a shape, it could be that Fuecoco adopts some Bull-like features too. Agoveb calls him Cucafuego, which not only sounds like a final Starter form, but also connects to FueCOCO and CUCAfera in a reasonable way. Agoveb believes this would be a Fire/Steel type, because of the armor.

Quaxly and Don Quixote

For Quaxly, Agoveb acknowledges many have hoped for a sailor or pirate, but they instead suggest it would be based on Don Quixote. This fits the weapons/warriors theory around water starters, and would suggest a Water/Fighting-type—which Agoveb calls Quaxotic, another proper sounding name for a final form. Furthermore, the use of “earnest” in Quaxly’s description fits this quite well too.

Sprigatito and Iberian Lynx

While many hope that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Sprigatito doesn’t become bipedal, that’s exactly what Agoverb thinks will happen. They believe Sprigatito will be based on an Iberian Lynx and become a suave, masked dance of sorts representing performance and romance. Because of this, they believe this final form, which they call Tangatto—tango and gatto making far too much sense—will be grass fairy. “Attention-seeking” in Sprigatito supports this theory.

This method would mean that there’s a Grass/Fairy, Water/Fighting, and Fire/Steel final trio, which makes a perfect super effective triangle. However, as much as these sound plausible, one piece of evidence really drives it home.

The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Evidence That Ties This Theory Together

The image seen above is taken straight from the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trailer, and on the right around the stairs, players can see three paintings. The one involving food represents Fuecoco’s chili pepper design, with that food likely playing some role through its evolution and into its final form—fitting for the cucafera.

The one on the left clearly includes windmills, a potential reference to when Don Quixote mistook windmills for dragons. This would thus connect to Quaxly, as many even before this theory made some connection given the name of the Pokemon. And as obvious as these are, that means that only one can connect to the attention-seeking Sprigatito: the dancer.

It remains to be seen what direction Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s starters go, but this theory is incredibly convincing.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are set for release in 2022 for Nintendo Switch.
