Reddit user CrafterWong recently shared their papercraft versions of the Pokemon Diancie and its Mega evolution form. Although Diancie and Mega Diancie aren’t available in the recently released Pokemon Legends: Arceus, several Pokemon fans have expressed their enthusiasm for the DIY and CrafterWong has since shared their templates and an instructional video. CrafterWong has confirmed that the Diancie and Mega Diancie papercraft are particularly difficult to start with, but they have information on other Pokemon that are more easily recreated through this art style.

According to CrafterWong, Diancie is easier to craft by attaching separate parts together, starting with the head, then the headdress, the body, Diancie’s skirt, and finally the additional gems for detail. To make Diancie and Mega Diancie, Pokemon fans will need standard printer paper with a printer to use CrafterWong’s templates, scissors, glue, a toothpick, a PDF viewer such as Adobe, and a program called Pepakura viewer to see where pieces in the finished product are placed. Although many of the 3D Pokemon models could be created using a 3D printer with corresponding filaments, CrafterWong has stated that they don’t have a 3D printer to expand their crafts with.

Diancie is one of the many Mythical Pokemon featured throughout the series, and it was first added to the growing roster of Pokemon in Generation 6 with Pokemon X and Y. Many Pokemon fans will also be familiar with Diancie from the movie released in 2014 called Pokemon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction in which the Mythical Pokemon plays an important role. Diancie was first acquired in Pokemon X and Y through an event that rewarded it, while other Pokemon players have accessed it through Pokemon Bank.

Diancie isn’t the first Pokemon that CrafterWong has created through papercraft as they have shown off others in the past. CrafterWong’s lineup of paper Pokemon includes all the Legendary Pokemon from Gold and Silver, Octillery, Snorlax, Blastoise, and Lapras. Just like with Diancie and Mega Diancie, CrafterWong has made instructional posts and videos to explain the process of creating them. It’s currently unclear which Pokemon CrafterWong will recreate through papercraft, but the artist has covered other franchises in the past such as Kirby, Plants vs. Zombies, and Bloons Tower Defense.
