When Mimikyu was first introduced in Pokemon Sun and Moon, a lot of gamers were likely baffled by its appearance. According to lore, Mimikyu disguises itself after the popular Electric Pokemon Pikachu in order to appear less intimidating so that it can make friends. Despite its disheveled appearance, Mimikyu has garnered a lot of love and popularity over the years. This can be seen by the number of official merchandise produced by The Pokemon Company and even the continuous fan art inspired by the Ghost/Fairy-type.

On Reddit, user FrigginBoomT shared a photo of two wooden pieces that they hand carved themselves. Carved on top of the pieces are accurate images of Mimikyu, with its arms reaching out to look like it is ready to attack. The artist also painted the top of the boxes in different shades of varnish to highlight the intricate details surrounding the Pokemon. Though FrigginBoomT shared that they carved out the same Mimikyu design, one box is circular and the other is square. Both offer a unique design that any Mimikyu lover would likely enjoy.
Using Reddit to crowdsource feedback from the community, FrigginBoomT asked fellow Pokemon fans to tell them which of the designs is better and, so far, commenters seem to be enjoying giving their feedback on the pieces. Most of the feedback focused on the shape of the box and the coloring of the varnish. Others simply dropped by to tell the artist that they made really amazing Mimikyu fan art pieces. The Redditor seems to be quite experienced with making hand carved items, as they have also posted their previous work featuring other Pokemon, such as Gastly and its evolutions, and others inspired by The Legend of Zelda.
With the Pokemon community waiting for the release of Scarlet and Violet later in 2022, appreciation for these kinds of handmade fan art will likely continue. Hopefully FrigginBoomT will also make pieces based from the newest generation of Pokemon. Many fans would probably like to see those pieces.
