First appearing in Pokemon Red and Blue, the original Kanto starters are Grass-type Bulbasaur, Fire-type Charmander, and Water-type Squirtle. In addition to these classic Pokemon, these starters were part of evolution lines that contained several memorable Pokemon. Recently, one fan decided to make fan art reimagining what evolutions of each of these starters would look like in LEGO form.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as eyemcantoeknees shared a picture featuring Charizard, Venusaur, and Blastoise. In the image, each of these evolutions of the Kanto starters had been recreated in stunning detail using LEGO bricks. For example, Charizard had enormous wings and a fire-tipped tail. In addition, the Venusaur design included large amounts of plant growth, while Blastoise featured a rounded shape; this was likely difficult to achieve out of LEGO pieces.
Over the last couple of days, members of the Pokemon community on Reddit have been taking notice of these custom LEGO creations made by eyemcantoeknees, and the post has already gained more than 3,400 upvotes. Some people enjoyed the designs so much that they wanted to see the starters from the other generations recreated in LEGO form. In addition, these creations inspired some users to want to try and build their own Pokemon using LEGO bricks. “Really wanna try to make Blastoise,” whyhats said on Reddit.
These Kanto starters are far from the only LEGO Pokemon creations made by eyemcantoeknees as they revealed that they have so far created 30 different Pokemon. In fact, they have a YouTube channel called Brickmill Studios that breaks down the process of creating each of these detailed LEGO creations along with noting the pieces used for each build. Other pocket monsters they have built include Dragonair, Mewtwo, and Vileplume, just to name a few.
While these three LEGO Kanto starter evolutions are doubtlessly impressive from eyemcantoeknees, they are not the only fan to make custom LEGO versions of Pokemon. Over the past couple of months, other talented fans have put their building skills to work, making blocky renditions of other Pokemon. For instance, another gamer recently made a LEGO version of Beldum. As the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet draws closer, it will be interesting to see if any of these builders decide to make LEGO versions of the Gen 9 Pokemon being added to the series in the coming months.
